"All Creation Worships You."
I've heard it said that praise is about what God does, and worship is about who God is. When a song touches who God is, there is often a sense of awe with it. "You are God, We Praise You," is such a song. (Also called, "All Creation Worships You.") The words are:
You are God, we praise You.
You are Lord, we acclaim You.
You are eternal Father.
All creation worships You.
Amen.
These are the opening words to a collection of Latin verses called the "Te Deum," dating back to the 4th century. Over the years, the "Te Deum" has been used for royal coronations, presidential inaugurations, for peace treaties, and significant historical aniniversaries. It honors God as being over history.
Kirk Dearman and Jim Mills composed this hymn in the 1980's. The word "acclaim" means to salute with shouts or sounds of joy and approval, applause. The Passion Bible says in the Psalms, "To make God famous."
Another hymn in this blog is "Eternal Father, Strong to Save." What an awesome way of knowing God--as our Eternal Father."
You are eternal Father.
Kirk and Deby Dearman have been pioneers in contemporary worship, and have used soothing, reverential music while ministering in Inner Healing Conferences in Europe for 25 years. They also have been regular worship leaders for the Billy Graham Training Center.
In the video, there is some opening, instrumental music before the singing begins. "Amen" is an exclamation uttered at the end of a prayer or hymn, meaning "so be it."
