"Praise Him in Song"

"All My Hope is in You, Jesus"

Hope...can we speak enough about it?  Hope is considered one of the three things that abide.  I Corinthians 13:13 says, "And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these of love."  God is called the God of hope in Romans 15:13.

David Crowder gives the background of his song, "All My Hope is in You, Jesus" on You Tube.  David had been working on his second album, 'American Prodigal."  He and his friend, Ed Cash, got together on Ed's porch to work on music, something that they would do.  Together, they wrote this song, which would fit into the album.

David said the word, "prodigal" has the meaning of to lavish upon.  In thinking of the title of the album, "American Prodigal," America has had a lot lavished upon by God.  But the word can also carry the idea of wasting that which was lavished upon.  The result can be much regret and pain, individually as well as corporately.  David describes this condition in the song:

There's a kind of thing that just breaks a man

Break him down to his knees

God, I've been broken more than a time or two (yes, Lord)

Then He picked me up and showed me

What it means to be a man

Come on and sing....

David said that hope is an anchor to the church.

All my hope is in Jesus

Thank God that yesterday's gone

All my sins are forgiven

I've been washed by the blood.

There are new beginnings.  The song was released in 2017.  The other stanzas are:

I've been held by the Savior

I've felt fire from above

I've been down to the river

 I ain't the same, a prodigal returned

I'm no stranger to the prison

I've worn shackles and chains

But I've been freed and forgiven (yes I have)

I'm not going back

I'll never be the same

That's why I sing....
