"You are My All and All"
Dennis Jernigan wrote "You are My All in All" in 1989--a beautiful praise song. Dennis went to Oklahoma Baptist University, where he learned to read and write music. Before that, he had played and chorded by ear, and it was like learning a whole new language. Dennis said, "That ability would be very valuable later in life as I started to express my heart and feelings in song."
The song, "You are My All in All" came to him quickly one morning when he was leading a prayer group in Oklahoma City. He was focusing on praying for other people in general and remembering what the Lord had done for him particularly. A melody began to form in his mind, and he played it on the piano. Lyrics came at the same time, and he began to sing to himself, "You are my strength when I am weak..." He continued playing with his left hand and put the song on paper with his right hand. Dennis said the experience made him think of Pslam 45:1, "My tongue is the pen of a ready writer."
You are my strength when I am weak. You are the treasure that I seek.
You are my all in all.
Seeking You as a precious jewel. Lord to give up I'd be a fool.
You are my all and all.
Chorus:
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your Name.
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your Name.
Taking my sin, my cross, my shame. Rising again I bless Your Name.
You are my all and all.
When I fall down, You pick me up. When I am dry, You fill my cup.
You are my all and all.
