"His Name is Wonderful"
Isaiah 9:6 says that Jesus would be born and would be called, "Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace."
Audrey Mieir was at a Christmas play in Duarte, California in the 1950's. She said there was the usual procession of angels, shepherds, Mary and Joseph, and the singing of "Sleep in heavenly peace." However, at the end, the pastor repeated over and over, "His name is Wonderful!' Something stirred in Audrey's heart, and she found a song forming with that title:
His name is Wonderful, His name is Wonderful,
His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord;
He is the Mighty King, Master of everything
His name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord.
The song became known, and people were singing it. One day, someone suggested that she write a bridge for it. Audrey took the suggestion to heart, and added these worship and praise words:
He's the great Shepherd, the Rock of all ages,
Almighty God is He;
Bown down before Him, love and adore Him,
His Name is Wonderful, Jesus my Lord.
It became a year round song, even though the song was born during a Christmas play.
