"House of the Lord"
There is a line in the song, "House of the Lord," that says, "My God's still rolling stones away."
We sing to the God who heals
We sing to the God who saves
We sing to the God who always makes a way
'Cause He hung up on the cross
Then He rose up from that grave
My God's still rolling stones away
Phil Wickham wrote this song in 2020, during the pandemic. We couldn't meet in many houses of worship at that time. Thankfully, that stone is rolled away. Now, we can meet.
But even during those times when we couldn't physically gather together in a church building, Phil saw how we could continue to experience the house of the Lord when we meet another believer, and acknowledge His wonderful Presence in us. There is joy in the house of the Lord because He is here.
There's joy in the house of the Lord
Our God is surely in this place
And we won't be quiet
We shout out your praise
(Oh-oh, oh) we shout out Your praise
(Oh-oh, oh)
Isaiah 12:3,4 says, "Therefore with joy shall you draw water out of the wells of salvation. And in that day shall you say, Praise the Lord, call upon His name, declare his doings among the people, make mention that His Name is exalted."
We worship the God who was
We worship the God who is
We worship the God who evermore will be
He opened the prison doors
He parted the raging sea
My God, He holds the victory
'Cause we were the beggars
Now we're royalty
We were the prisoners
Now we're running free
We are forgiven, accepted
Redeemed by His grace
Let the house of the Lord sing praise
Phil Wickham wrote the song together with Jonathan Smith.
