"Oh, Lord, You're Beautiful"
In 1980, Keith Green released the popular worship song, "Oh, Lord, You're Beautiful." In the song, he says:
For when your eyes are on this child,
Your grace abounds to me.
Keith knew God's grace. Keith was one of the youngest stars in the 1960's. He and his father signed a five-year contract with Decca Records in 1965, with his father as business manager. He became the youngest person ever to sign with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) at the age of 11.
But Keith was not totally satisfied with his music during his teens. He had a Jewish heritage, and was raised in Christian Science. His open mind caused him to experiment with the culture of that time. A the age of 20, he married his wife, Melody, and together, they became believers. In 1976, Keith signed with Contemporary Christian music label Sparrow Records. And in 1978, they founded together, "Last Days Ministries."
All four lines of the opening are:
Oh, Lord, you're beautiful,
Your face is all I seek,
For when your eyes are on this child
Your grace abounds to me.
The rest of the song is a prayer.
I want to take your word and shine it all around.
But first help me to just, live it, Lord.
And when I'm doing well, help me to never seek a crown,
For my reward is giving glory to You.
Oh, Lord, please light the fire,
That once burned bright and clear
Replace the lamp of my first love,
That burns with Holy fear.
