"Praise Him in Song"

The words to the chorus of the song, "Thy Word," are from Psalm 119:105, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path."  Michael W. English wrote the melody and the chorus, using this verse.

Amy Grant liked the demo.  So Michael gave what he had of the song to Amy, and asked her to finish it. They were at Caribou Ranch recording studio high in the Rocky Mountains.  Later that night, Amy started to walk back to her cabin, but it was very dark, and she had some difficulty in finding it.  The ranch was very large--and in the middle of nowhere.  After some time, she saw a lamp, and started to walk towards it.  It turned out to be the lamp to her cabin.  After she was inside, she sat down and wrote the verses to the song.

The words are:

Chorus:

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light onto my path.

Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.

When I feel afraid and think I've lost my way--

Still, You're there right beside me.

Nothing will I fear as long as You are near.

Please be near me to the end.

I will not forget Your love for me and yet,

My heart forever is wandering.

Jesus be my guide and hold me to Your side.

And I will love you to the end.
